Rebel News Files Legal Complaint Against Forever Canadian Over Alberta Referendum Spending

Rebel News says it has filed a formal complaint with Elections Alberta against Thomas Lukaszuk's "Forever Canadian" campaign, alleging the group has run a well-funded operation while reporting zero dollars in contributions.

Rebel News announced it has filed a legal complaint with Elections Alberta against Thomas Lukaszuk's "Forever Canadian" campaign, alleging the registered third-party advertiser has failed to disclose its finances as required by law. According to Rebel News, the group is running a bus tour, offices in Edmonton and Calgary, rallies, and professional signage — but its public disclosure to Elections Alberta shows $0 in contributions raised.

The complaint, filed by lawyer Chad Williamson, consists of a five-page demand letter, a ten-page formal legal complaint, and 226 pages of supporting evidence. Rebel News says that if Elections Alberta does not investigate within 30 days, it will seek a judicial review of the agency's conduct in the Court of King's Bench.

The complaint echoes concerns raised elsewhere about Forever Canadian's disclosure practices — Elections Alberta's most recent third-party advertiser figures similarly showed the group reporting $0 in contributions despite an active public campaign.
