Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 18, 2026

Forever Albertan (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a non-partisan, citizen-led movement operating at foreveralbertan.org. We are committed to protecting your personal information and handling it in accordance with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), and applicable federal privacy laws.

1. Information We Collect

We collect personal information only when you voluntarily provide it by:

  • Adding your name as a supporter — first name, last name (optional for anonymous supporters), city, and email address.

We do not collect sensitive personal information, financial data, or government identification numbers. We do not use cookies for tracking or behavioural advertising. Forever Albertan is a strictly informational website — we do not accept advertising from third parties and we do not purchase or place advertising on any platform.

2. Why We Collect It

Your information is collected for the following purposes:

  • To record and display the number of Albertans who support the movement (supporter count is public; individual names are not)
  • To send you updates about Forever Albertan, the October 19, 2026 Alberta referendum, and related civic activities — with your consent
  • To distribute our newsletter and movement updates to supporters who have opted in
  • To respond to inquiries sent to info@foreveralbertan.org

We will not use your information for any purpose other than those listed above without obtaining your consent first.

3. Consent and CASL Compliance

By submitting your name through our supporter or volunteer forms, you expressly consent to:

  • Having your information stored in our database
  • Receiving electronic communications from Forever Albertan related to the movement, the referendum, and Alberta sovereignty

Every electronic message we send will clearly identify Forever Albertan as the sender, include our contact information, and provide a clear, easy way to unsubscribe at any time.

To unsubscribe, email us at info@foreveralbertan.org with the subject line Unsubscribe. We will honor all unsubscribe requests within 10 business days, as required by CASL.

4. How We Store and Protect Your Information

Your information is stored securely in a database hosted by Supabase (Supabase Inc.), a cloud database provider. Data may be stored on servers located in the United States. Supabase maintains industry-standard security controls including encryption at rest and in transit.

Outbound email communications are sent via Resend (Resend Inc.), a transactional email provider. Resend processes your email address for the sole purpose of delivering messages on our behalf.

We limit access to your personal information to individuals who need it to operate the movement. We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise disclose your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.

5. Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, or until you request its deletion. Following the conclusion of the October 19, 2026 referendum, we will review all stored data and delete information that is no longer needed.

6. Your Rights

Under Alberta's PIPA, you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct — request that inaccurate information be corrected
  • Delete — request that your personal information be removed from our records
  • Withdraw consent — withdraw your consent to receiving communications at any time

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@foreveralbertan.org. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Links to Third-Party Sites

Our site includes links to third-party websites (YouTube channels, social media profiles, and other organizations). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their policies independently.

8. Children's Privacy

Forever Albertan is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
