Separatist Advertisers Now Lead Federalists by Half a Million Dollars

New Elections Alberta figures show separatist third-party advertisers have raised $634,411 to date — more than $500,000 ahead of federalist advertisers — after the biggest single-week jump in contributions since campaign start.

Elections Alberta's latest third-party advertiser figures, released Friday, show separatist advertisers now hold a half-million-dollar fundraising advantage over federalist advertisers, with $634,411 raised to date compared to $131,016. The reporting week ending July 23 saw the largest jump in contributions since the campaign began, with more than $215,000 raised — nearly 80 per cent of it, $170,019, going to separatist advertisers.

Let Alberta Decide continues to lead all advertisers by a wide margin, with just shy of $360,000 in total contributions after taking in roughly $103,000 this past week alone. Pathway to Independence is the only other advertiser to cross six figures. On the federalist side, Vote to Stay saw the largest weekly gain, adding just shy of $30,000.

Notably, Forever Canadian — the federalist group led by former deputy premier Thomas Lukaszuk — has reported $0 in contributions despite being registered as a third-party advertiser, telling media its advocacy work promotes national unity rather than directly urging a vote on separation. Separatist supporters have accused the group of skirting disclosure rules while indirectly campaigning for the federalist side.
